Just north of cheese city Alkmaar you will find Koedijk. This small village along the North-Hollandsch canal is best known for his traditional gondola-trip. Koedijk with the Koedijkervlotbrug is located near the Schoorlse dunes, the sea and the beach and within cycling distance of the city center of Alkmaar and Bergen. A visti to the famous cheese market should not be missing. From April to September, the cheese market takes place on Friday. Once a batch of cheese is sold and weighed, the cheese carriers carry the cheese on their “wooden barrows to the buyers’ lorries. At 500 meters from Boerderij Koedijk you will find mill “De Gouden Engel”. According to the ancient craft the mill is set in motion on a daily base to grind various grains into flour. Next to the mill you will find restaurant “De Molenschuur”, where one can enjoy a delicious pancake, made with flour from the mill.
